A new central library is currently being built in Shanghai, China. The library with an area of ​​115,000 square meters, spread over two basement and seven upper floors, is located in the Pudong District right next to the largest park of the city, Century Park. An integrated library solution from Telelift in cooperation with bibliotheca is used in the Shanghai Library East so that the transport logistics of the books work optimally. The concept includes an intelligent book return on the first floor with indoor and 24/7 outdoor returns. From there, the books are transported with 180 UniSortCars on 1,100 m rails to a total of 16 stations. In addition, 18 UniSafeCars are in use.
In the basement there is also a sorting system with 24 sorting destinations for central sorting for all connected branch libraries within the city of Shanghai.
