Telelift in the University and State Library Darmstadt

Telelift in the University and State Library Darmstadt

The University and State Library Darmstadt is the central university library of the Technical University  Darmstadt and scientific universal library for the population of Darmstadt and South Hessen. It offers reading rooms for over 1,000 people and is used by more than 400,000 visitors annually.

A Telelift book transport system with 6 stations, which transports all media quickly and reliably, has been in use since 2011. After 10 years of successful use, the system will be expanded with two book return machines and a sorting system that will be connected to the existing system. At the same time, the system software will be updated.

With the expansion of the system, all the advantages of modern, integrated book return-, sorting- and transport technology can be used in the future at the university and state library. At the same time, the library staff is relieved of time-consuming sorting tasks.
